"As artists we are always looking for the truth of what we as individuals need to explore. This does not come easily. And when we do find a truthful visual resolution to an idea, we feel compelled to share these images hoping they will find their way out into the larger world. . ."

Artist Statement

I have been in love with art making ever since I was a young child. Art is a source of pleasure and enlightenment in my life. Art making for me is the begetter of joy and satisfaction, but also frustration...in that making art is hard work, and pieces are often discarded.

This process of artistic creation is a matter of falling in love over and over again...with the challenges propelling me forward instead of discouraging me. I love experimenting with a variety of media and learning new processes. Drawing, painting, printmaking, collage making, sculpture, are all media that have intrigued me in the past. Rug hooking is my current passion.

I am inspired by the beautiful Vermont landscape, family, and ancient myths. Color, composition, and texture are my main tools of expression. I find relief and comfort in the process of working, finding my way through the maze of options that result in beauty... a beauty that pleases me and, hopefully, many viewers.

Art making is about life, about love, and about making a small part of my world look...again...

My artwork has been shown extensively throughout New England and New York. I have won a series of awards from the Vermont Council on the Arts and the Vermont Studio Center to name a few. My work is also held in numerous private collections. I received a B.A. in Art Education from Massachusetts College of Art, and a Masters in Drawing and Painting from Goddard College.
